Lakes College (NW)

Lakes College is the major provider of further and higher education in West Cumbria.
Our mission statement is:
“Lakes College will work in partnership to deliver high quality education and training, and to be the lead provider, contributing to the local economic and community development’”
We are a medium-sized general further education college located on the west coast of Cumbria between Workington and Whitehaven. The college draws its students from a wide geographical area. We operate predominantly from a modern, purpose-built site with additional buildings for construction just under half a mile away, and several outreach centres. We are the only general further education college within a 36 mile radius.
The college provides mainly vocational programmes covering a wide variety of study areas, with extensive progression opportunities within each area. It offers apprenticeships across a range of frameworks and subject areas. The college also runs an extensive programme of higher education courses.
•Achieved CN Group Post-16 Provider of the Year Award for Cumbria 2010/11
•Overall achievements for students was 95% in 2010/11, which is in the top 10% nationally.
• Have delivered HE for over 40 years and are the largest provider of HE in West Cumbria.
•Actively work with 500 employers in the area
