End of Year Report 2009
As we celebrate our second successful year of operation it is important to reflect on the successes of the year in terms of organisational performance and product development. This document highlights just some of the key achievements accomplished by the Skills Academy during this period.
One of our main priorities for this year has been the development of the Nuclear Skills Passport which is on target for roll out early 2010. Our vision and the underlying purpose behind the skills passport is to develop and sustain a qualified, mobile workforce with transferable skills that enable career progression in a world-class nuclear industry. Many countries have looked at developing and implementing a similar concept to the Nuclear Skills Passport, but all have realised the huge challenge of developing and agreeing such a complex national system and have not progressed it further. By taking this innovative and forward step the UK is positioning itself as a world leader in this aspect of the Nuclear Industry- a truly world class approach!
The Nuclear Skills Passport is one example that proves that by putting employers at the forefront of skills development for their sector, and working with them on their specific needs just how much can be achieved in so little time. 2009 has been another challenging and exciting year, which has seen growth in all areas of the Skills Academy, our dedicated team, the Employer Member network and the High Quality Provider network are all going from strength to strength. We are very fortunate to have forged such excellent supportive relationships with Cogent SSC, Trades Unions, Government departments, NDA, HSE and other stakeholders. Our excellent relationship with the nuclear community is what really drives the Skills Academy and without the time, expertise and commitment of our Member organisations – we would not be where we are today.
